First Watermelon and Fish Soil

Today I cut the first watermelon of the season here at the Del Piano Homestead!
Penny picked up a watermelon last week,
and we had it in the refrig. getting nice and cold.
Here is what my watermelon looks like now!

It amazes me what you can do with a watermelon.
If you are a creative soul, with artistic abilities, look what you can do!

and hey, it's hip to be square!

Yup, the Japanese put that square box over the watermelons while they are still on the vine, and voila! You got yourself a square booger! (The Japanese figure it will save land room as they grow, and also be an economical deal, as larger melons cannot fit well in your refridg. without taking up a lot of room.) ** Oh, and by the way, these square babies cost about $85.00 each!!....did I forget to mention that??) That is my watermelon tidbit of the day.

On the flip side: I made $135.00 from Craigslist today. Pretty cool.
I have more people coming tomorrow to pick up the things they want to purchase.

I mowed the front lawn today, but never got to the back.
I am hoping to do that tomorrow.
I got a late start mowing because my neighbor was having a funeral at their home.
Mowing during a funeral service I thought would be tacky.

WAIT..... A FUNERAL AT THEIR HOME I THOUGHT??

My neighbor Rose explained to me that their
Grandson Danny's Goldfish passed away.

Poor Bastid!

So, Danny asked his Grandma Ro-Ro if he could bury his departed friend in Grandpa Sal's Rose Garden. I thought that was such a beautiful thought. So there they were, Danny and his mom and dad, and Grandma & Grandpa.
It was a touching scene as I peaked out our window.

Just a thought....
Wood Chips + Dead Fish = FISH N' CHIPS Fertilizer?
